Carney carnival

I don't know if you get as pissed as I do when told by people who should know better that you've got to watch your spending don't get so much debt live within your means It's fine for them they all make over 100.000 a year. Which brings me to my arctic thought what if there is no end to this slump ?
I know it's a hard pill to swallow but what if we've gone as far as Capitalism can take us.
We know the system in the old soviet bloc didn't work well what makes everybody think that the system we have won't just stop working too.
I have absolutely no confidence in any Govt anymore no matter which party is in power and after seeing that most of the Regulations which got us into a financial meltdown have not changed. You know when I was a kid I read about Corp running the world looks like it came true.

mid november

Yeah that's right mid november and I had another birthday and not to pleased about that What in hell makes people think that getting older is a fun thing ? It is not. Well I can't change it so might as well move on cause it will happen next year or not too early to tell. Global climate change is alive and well in the Canadian Arctic Nov 16.10 and we don't have ice yet not on the ponds rivers or the Bay. I'm starting to think about staying here. Good luck out there.

Winter coming

Yup that was some Thanksgiving we all got to stuff ourselves to the Max while in some far off corner of the world children died for want of clean water Yup Happy Thanksgiving everybody .

Last Days

It is with some sadness that I report that Canada has lost it's first two games at the World Championship in Turkey we now hold the five spot and that is no good as only the top four advance to the next stage keeping fingers crossed but not optimistic .


Now on the light side the Mayor of Iqaluit sent her son off to Hockey School last week so now we'll find out if nothing but School & Hockey is something he'll enjoy.

I've know from an early age that pro sports was not something I was going to be allowed to pursue and after my second year of high school didn't want to I played for the fun and competition but the thought of doing it day in day out was mind numbing for me.

Of course with hind site one might say "Yeah I could have gone pro" but that's just B.S. today getting to the pro's is as much luck as hard work.

summers end musings

Just the other night I watched a film which I really enjoyed but I had read the book first so some parts were different but the thing that stuck me watching this film was the two main characters really loved being cowboys which to me is hard to believe as I always remember a quote I once heard which was "Boy cowboying is something you do when you can't do anything else" well I suppose it takes all kinds to make a world.
If I was a believer of God and all the baggage that comes with that I might thank him for TMC cause some nights you just can't watch any more Sports so you've got to find a movie but jesus what a bunch of shit they show today think the last film I went to see at a theater was that Titans CG shit it was a mistake last film I enjoyed watching in the theater was No Country For Old Men. Mostly because I wonder if I'd have done the same thing if put in the same situation. Summer has been really good weather wise but you can't count on it anymore change on you in a second. I just thought about something why is there an RCMP officer the dept of Justice? Big brother is watching baby don't forget it.

Trips

Ok I was out of Town for the last game of the season for the Raptors it was an important game as a win would put them in the playoffs with Chicago loss of course. But what did my eyes see but a team just playing out the string I can't tell you how crappy it was to have to see what you know is the last game of the season. Now to be fair if you were watching on TV there is no way you would be able to see this it must be witnessed Live and it helps if you've watched as much basketball as I have over the years, but I've flown off target the whole point was I was out of Iqaluit first time in about 16 years so you can imagine the culture shock can't you come on say you can.
Ok I'm lying no culture shock it was just like I'd never been away had the best time ever some of which I can't even talk about until the 2250.

Long Hot Summer

Man has it been hot or what I've lost count of the days that sweat has run it's course down my back I've also lost count of other things but that's due to advanced age now has anybody noticed that drug commercials aren't the same as when you were a kid . They all have these little tags with them now "may cause excessive gas, can lead to death, hope this works. What the hell happened? I remember growing up and hearing take this for what ails you and you will be happy and healthy not today you can take your medicine but it may kill you too.

Transportation

Can no one in the NGO's or Govt for that matter come up with a plan to wean us off for profit airlines it boggles the mind that a territory that needs vast sums of money from the Federal Govt just to carry out day to day tasks and has less population then a sold out NFL game is forced to pay airline prices so they make a profit. I've been here a long time now I've seen airlines grow from small regional carriers to large regional carriers and it's always the same old song "look how much we've done for you" For my money no community in Canada that has no other way to connect with the rest of the country should be held hostage by airline prices. In closing I just want to ask the age old question "Where are the flying cars ? "

Reviewed liquor act

It's about time the govt of nunavut quit this insane idea that some how they can controll that which is uncontrollable namely the flow of alcohol down peoples throats everybody and their mother shakes a finger and wags a tongue when people get caught bootlegging but it's been going on since the day I got here way back in "73" and the liquor store was opened then. Thanks to Peter B. for the knocks on Ann Coulter she deserves everything she gets but funny I always listen to what she has to say I don't agree with 90 % of it but if people want to listen to her then by all means go ahead and last for today Everybody should read that new Micheal Lewis book "The Big Short" it opens a few eyes and for the people who think it's a level playing field kicks them in the groin.

Thursday

Ok it's the most shitty day of the week but I move forward into the light even if the clouds and snow say no light for you. I wonder how many people get up every day here and just wish for the whole place to disappear. I think today I'll start thinking about a whole new thing like yesterday I was on goggle earth and I looked at some of my old haunts things have changed man but not so much that I could not recognize the places I went to but I think I'm just looking for lost youth or maybe just home sick anyway nothing a stiff drink won't cure.
